The Facts

-Over a billion people in the world live on less than one dollar a day. (Probably more than your daily coffee at Starbucks,right?)
-Every minute, 18 children die from poverty-related causes.
-1 in 3 homeless people in the U.S. are under 18.
-At least 80% of humanity lives on less than $10 a day. Not that big of a jump from $1.
-Nearly a billion people entered the 21st century not being able to read or sign their name.
-There are about 2.2 billion children in the world, and 1 billion of them are in poverty. That's every second child.
-The GDP (Gross Domestic Product) of the poorest 48 nations (1/4 of the world's countries) is less than the wealth of the world's 3 richest people combined.
-A few hundred millionares now own as much wealth as the world's poorest 2.5 billion people.
